St. Martin's Children's Lantern Festival
Saturday, November 14, 2009 5:00-8:00 p.m.

Over 150 people - 70 plus children, attended the 2009 Martinstag. Join us next year!

Bishop Martin of Tours is the Catholic saint of November 11th. Legend has it the Roman soldier, turned Christian cleric, shared his cape with a beggar.

To mark this deed, children process in lantern parades as beggars on St. Martin's day. They sing the traditional "Ich geh mit meiner Laterne." beg for a treats and are rewarded with candy.

Our children's lantern festival parades into Lockerbie Square, Indianapolis's Original German Town.

5:00-5:15 Gathering Gathering Athenaeum Auditorium 1st floor Registration, donate coats or money, 5:30-6:30 Light Supper, (tickets required) Childrens coloring activity

6:30-6:45 Appearance by St. Martin, Story of St. Martin, Practice St. Martin songs. 15 minutes allotted for gathering at the southeast corner of the parking lot. 7:00-8:00 Lantern parade into Lockerbie Square - Vermont Street to Park Av.


$5.00 individual/$15 family maximum. Ala carte Potato Pancakes and beverages available.
