Athenæum Turners

A "Turnverein" is a gymnastic club. A "Turner" is a tumbler or gymnast and a member of a Turnverein. Followers of the precepts of Friedrich Jahn - "Sound Mind/Sound Body," Indianapolis German members of the Socialer Turnverein constructed Das Deutsche Haus/Athenæum 1894-1898. The Socialer Turnverein changed Das Deutsche Haus to Athenæum and their club name to Athenæum Turners in 1918. They have celebrated a 111 year association with the Athenæum building. That history is filled with athletic and gymnastic activity, parties, dances, theatricals and lecture series. Today, the Athenæum Turners participate and sponser a number of monthly and annual activities. Proceeds from many Athenæum Turner activities benefit the Athenæum Foundation.

Annual Dues are $35.00.
